Chiropractic solutions
Chiropractic entails a vast selection of holistic and safe services, prompting the body’s natural healing process.
Chiropractic adjustments or spinal manipulations
The neuromusculoskeletal systems of our body include the bones (the skeleton), ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerves, and fascia. A joint is where one bone connects to another bone, and each joint has a certain amount of normal movement.
The structure of our skeleton and the soft tissues surrounding our joints can become injured, impairing movement and causing discomfort. When this happens, the joints can lose some of their normal movement, becoming restricted.
Using a swift, controlled, targeted manual thrust, an adjustment to a joint re-establishes proper function by restoring the impacted area to its natural amount of movement to the joint. A chiropractic adjustment often offers immediate relief.
Instrument-assisted manipulations
Our SE Portland chiropractor is certified and trained to use an industry-designed instrument that supports tissue and joint health and recovery. The tool used generates a highly targeted approach that can help even the most challenging areas and injuries throughout the body.
Kinesio taping
Kinesio taping has become a much relied-upon method for quick comfort that keeps the affected area protected without reducing mobility. The tape is applied to the skin of the injured area, relieving tension as the tissues lift and help nutrient-rich blood and oxygen reach the injury quickly.
Corrective exercise and movement and general rehabilitation
Exercises, mobilizations, stretches, and proper movement patterns are essential to your health and how your body functions. Corrective exercises ensure your body gets stronger as mobility is enhanced, while corrective movement helps you keep those good results.
These rehabilitation programs work to strengthen and re-educate the muscles and restore proper functional movement so you can reduce the risk of re-injury, avoid further injury, and recover from injuries quickly.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is based on the fundamental idea that imbalances, blockages in the flow of Qi (energy), or stagnation, can lead to various physical, mental, and emotional health issues. Just as Western medical doctors monitor the blood flowing through blood vessels and the messages traveling via the nervous system, acupuncturists assess the flow and distribution of energy within its pathways, meridians, and channels.
From chronic pain management, such as back pain, migraines, or arthritis, to stress reduction, anxiety, and insomnia, acupuncture is known for its capacity to alleviate symptoms, improve circulation, and enhance overall well-being.
Massage therapy
Therapeutic massage is the manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissues, tendons, and ligaments) to enhance your health and well-being. It is an excellent way to enhance your chiropractic and acupuncture treatments.
Our licensed massage therapist provides various massage techniques and therapies focusing on overall balance, muscle tension, and structural support. Our therapists provide a warm and relaxing environment with individualized treatment emphasizing areas that are in particular need.
We work with everyone from weekend warriors to pregnant women. Whether you want a sports massage, cranial-sacral massage, manual therapy, deep tissue, post-injury, trigger point, relaxation, or pregnancy massage, 60 minutes with our massage therapist will reduce pain and mental stress and promote healing and comfort.
What to Expect
When you first come to Neighborhood Chiropractic and Acupuncture, you will be asked to complete our general intake form. There may be additional paperwork for acupuncture visits, motor vehicle accidents, work injuries, or insurance-specific forms.
The initial visit with the chiropractor will start with a thorough history, then a physical exam and treatment, and will end with recommendations specific to your condition and treatment plan.
The initial visit with the acupuncturist will start with a thorough history, then an assessment of your pulse which may include a brief exam, then a discussion of your diagnosis and treatment. You can expect about 20 minutes of acupuncture treatment during this first visit.
During your initial massage, your massage therapist will ask you to discuss with them your current complaints and will then begin your massage.
If you have never seen a chiropractor, acupuncturist, or massage therapist before, feeling nervous is reasonable. Your providers will explain what they are doing, check with you to make sure that you are comfortable, and discuss options that feel right to you.

“Love Dr Allie and her attention to detail. She has a wonderful approach and looks at things in a whole body perspective. She was able to find the spot in my shoulder that has been causing my pain for years and even noticed some other things I wasn’t aware of. The exercises she prescribed have been very helpful as well and her extensive knowledge is very impressive.”
“I have had amazing experiences at Neighborhood Chiropractic. I have been to this location on two separate occasions. Once for chiropractic treatment and later for acupuncture.”
“The chiropractic treatment I received from Dr. Dashiell was amazing! I was suffering from some serious pain in my neck due to an athletic injury. She was able to diagnose my problem and provide treatment in a single visit. I followed her recommended recovery schedule and after a week I was back to normal and pain free!”
“My second visit was for acupuncture treatment from Dr. Erika. This was my first time getting acupuncture and I was a bit nervous at first. Dr. Erika made the process very approachable and eased my unsteady nerves. The treatment was great and provided my neck with additional pain relief. She was also very knowledgeable about acupuncture and shared with me a ton of useful information and literature during my visit.”
